This week, students made I love Reading headbands, continued to enjoy great books and add to our locker book covers. These amazing covers will be shared over the next two weeks of our March is Reading Month celebration.

The Native American Scholastic Award is a merit-based award given to a Native American student who has been admitted to Central Michigan University for the first time or is already attending the university.
The American Indian Scholastic Award is given to first-time or continuing CMU students committed to the promotion of Native American culture. The award value will range from $500 to $1500 (based on funds availability). The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe provides funding for the Scholastic Award. Award winners will be announced at the annual CMU Pow wow on Sunday afternoon. The award can be applied to tuition, fees, books, and/or room and board.

SCA celebrated the 1st week of March is Reading Month.
Some highlights included a book mark giveaway, read alouds of great books, and sharing favorite books. The students are working on creating (drawing/coloring) the covers of their favorite books. These will be displayed on their lockers so our hallways are lined with books! Photos of their books will be shared later this month!

The Destination Dental School Program is a free oppurutnity that would prepare college students for careers in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and dentistry. Destination Dental School (DDS) is an intense gateway experience for underrepresented minority students interested in a career in dentistry. The goal of the program is to encourage and increase the number of talented underrepresented students who pursue a career in dentistry. The excellent course is presented by the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Students will participate virtually, on Saturdays.
